There was a home seller who canceled our appointment. When I asked why, he said he met with another Realtor who told him there are few buyers during the Holidays. It was strange because the fall market here in the Northville / Novi, Michigan area can be pretty busy.
I convinced him to let me come anyway, to at least see the home. I got the grand tour and we sat to talk. I brought him a stack of listings that have gone under contract or Closed / Sold this fall. The point was to show him how busy it really is. Halloween is not really a holiday that keeps people from buying or selling a home. Buyers buy anytime of year they need a home. He was quite impressed with me he said. Could I come back and meet with his wife next week to list their home.
In the mean time this shirt showed up in the mail. We joked a lot about Halloween and he thought of me with this YOU CAN'T SCARE ME - I AM A REALTOR SHIRT. Bless him for thinking of me, now I can wear it to our next appointment.
In the end, I have heard from other agents "how dead they are". For me it is full scale busy as can be. I think the difference is waiting for business to come to them as opposed to going out and making business happen. Who tells a seller it is the wrong time of year to list?
